Chai Mitzvah
with Rabbi Sendrow is the 1st Sunday of most months from 6:30 pm – 8 pm (in person)
The Chai Mitzvah Class is for High School Students.
It will be based on a curriculum focusing on Mussar Click to Learn about Mussar
which is the study of Jewish ethics, but this is much more than a class. In addition to group study of the sourcebooks, each person in the group chooses personally meaningful projects in three areas:

  • Adopt or deepen a ritual or spiritual practice
  • Identify something to learn
  • Engage in a social action project of your choosing

The goal is for each participant to experience personal growth in numbers one and two, and participate in tikkun olam, repairing the world in number three.

Students who complete the year-long Chai Mitzvah program are eligible to apply for a stipend to help fund a peer trip to Israel the summer after completing Chai Mitzvah. For more information about Chai Mitzvah, click here.

Please email Rabbi Sendrow at rabbisendrow@shaareytefilla.org letting him know that you will be attending class.
