Teen Education

2021 – 2022/5782 CLASSES:

Chai Mitzvah with Rabbi Sendrow is the 1st Sunday of most months at 6:30 pm – 8 pm
The Chai Mitzvah Group is for teens of all ages. It will be based on a curriculum focusing on Mussar Click to Learn about Mussar, which is the study of Jewish ethics, but this is much more than a class. In addition to group study of the source books, each person in the group chooses personally meaningful projects in three areas:

  1. Adopt or deepen a ritual or spiritual practice
  2. Identify something to learn
  3. Engage in a social action project of your choosing

The goal is for each participant to experience personal growth in numbers one and two, and participate in tikkun olam, repairing the world in number three.

Students who complete the year-long Chai Mitzvah program are eligible to apply for a stipend to help fund a peer trip to Israel the summer after completing Chai Mitzvah. For more information about Chai Mitzvah, click here.

Please email Rabbi Sendrow raddisendrow@shaareytefilla.org letting him know that you will be attending class.

3D@CST with Rabbi Sendrow is the 2nd Sunday of most months at 6:30 pm – 8 pm
3D@CST is primarily designed for students one or two years past their Bar or Bat Mitzvahs. The three Ds are Dinner, Discussion, and Debate. We take turns providing a light dinner for the class, and over dinner there is lively discussion on a variety of Jewish issues. Although Rabbi Sendrow usually leads the class, there are occasional guest presenters as well.
